FOOTBALL.
DISTRICT SCHEME SANCTIONED. A meeting of delegates to tho Wellington Rugby Union was held at Batkin’s last evening, to consider a subcommittee's report (which has previously appeared in these columns), concerning a scheme for the introduction of district football in 'Wellington. Air -W. King, who presided, said it would be expeditious, if the principle' wero affirmed or' rejected at the outset instead of the whole report first being discussed. Ho asked for some delegate to move a resolution. Air H. Alclntyre then moved —“That after the first round of the Senior Championship matches is played next season a trial ho made of the district scheme. ’ Ho said this would not entail any hardship on tho senior players, nor on the juniors, whom it was not proposed to interfere with. Air Hunter seconded the motion. A discussion, then arose. One speaker said it was bettor to let well alone. Several delegates spoke against the scheme, and after Air Alclntyre had replied, tho motion was put, and carried by a small majority. Tho report was then discussed. Clause. 1 (that Wellington be divided into five districts—Thorndon, City, Victoria, Newtown, and Southern) was adopted, but there wero several alterations made in tho boundaries. At clause 3 (that the Wellington College Old Boys’ and Victoria College be each a separate district for the poses of tho scheme), Wellington College Old Boys, was struck out, an<l tho clause as amended carried. The remainder of the clauses were also carried. “THE RUGBY LARRIKIN.” POUR DISQUALIFICATIONS. PRESS ASSOCIATION. PALMERSTON, October 26.
