STATE-OWNED CABLES.
(Received October 27, 0.28 arm.) MELBOURNE, October 26. In tho Federal House of Representatives Mr Thomas moved that the Com-’ monwealth Government should approach the Imperial and Canadian Governments with a view to acquiring a Canadian land-lino and one of the Atlantic cables in order to complete with the Pacific cable a State-owned line from Australia to England. Tile debate was adjourned.
