THE VETERANS’ ASSOCIATION. Prior to his departure from Wellington Lord Eanfurly was presented with an address from the Association of Veterans. Tire address was As follows: New Zealand Association of His Majesty’s . ' Veterans. Wellington, June 20th, 1904. To His Excellency Lord Eanfurly, We. the representatives in Wellington of the New Zealand Association of His Majesty's Veterans, on the eve of your departure from these shores, desire to express our dutiful thanks to your Excellency for tho warm and unvarying interest displayed by you in our,association .(which, indeed, owes its origin to your Excellency) and in all matters affecting the welfare of ths veterans of all rank throughout tho colony. We.call to mind the indomitable energy and perseverance with which you carried out to a most successful issue, in the face of much discouragement, tho noble Veterans’ Home erected in tho provincial district of Auckland, which will over remain a lasting monument of your tender care of, and thoughtfulness for, those of the many bravo men who. in times past, have devotedly served in tho naval, military or irregular forces of their country, and who from circumstances of calamity, misfortune or infirmity, stand in need of assistance in their old age. In taking our leave of-your Excellency we earnestly wish you God speed, and pray that you. may he long spared *o continue. in your native land, the good and beneficent work on behalf of your fellowmen, which you have so unceasingly and faithfully carried out whilst engaged in the arduous duties of tho high office entrusted to yon by your Sovereign in this distant part of the grand Empire of which we in common belong.
