When the correspondence was being dealt with Mr Wilford brought up the question of tho locality of the wharf to bo orected at Muritai. Ho said he understood if tho wharf was erected at the end of Fabian, street, a piece of land 500 ft long by a chain wide would bo dedicated by Dr and Mrs .McKenzie, and another •strip 66ft by 90ft at tho north end would also be dedicated for the purpose if the Fabian street site was chosen. He thought the offer was a very liberal one. ■ Mr Beauchamp said to act on Mr AVilford’s information would place the Board iu a rather awkward position as regards the site offered for tho wharf at the end of Eusso street,. The suggested site at the cud of Fabian street was very exposed and in a less favourable position than the alternative one. He thought the Board should inspect the locality before coming to any decision on the point. He was sure every member hoped to see tho wharf erected in the best possible position for tho district as a whole. Mr AYilforcl mentioned that he had been in communication' with the , Day’s BayDistrict Eatepayers’ Association on the subject and had arranged with that body to have two members in attendance at the meeting of the Board that day in case any information might be required. The secretary (Mr Ferguson) reminded the Board , that it had empowered him to inquire into the matter and make the necessary negotiations with the association of ratepayers ,at Day’s Bay. At present negotiations were well underway, and he thought the matter should he left in his hands until they were completed and his report had been presented. Mr Townsend commented on the action of a member of the Board interfering in a question that had been disposed of by resolution at a previous meeting of the Board. Ho thought it was decidedly wrong for him to bring members of an outside association to the meeting while tho matter was still undertermined. Mr .Wilford; I am pleased to hear you say so 1 The subject was allowed to drop after some further discussion, it being understood that tho secretary was to continue •liis negotiations, the committee to inspect the contemplated sites on a suitable date. IX COMMITTEE. Tenders were received for contract No. 133, brick stores "V” and “AY,” Customhouse quay. The chairman was instructed to accept tho lowest if it was satisfactory, and in the alternative to accept tho next lowest proposal. Tho chairman was also authorised to accept the.lowest tender for contract 120, supply of four mooring buoys. A committee consisting of the chairman. Mr Townsend and the secretary was appointed to deal with tho tenders for tile supplv of uniforms and caps after consultation with tho men, who have to payhalf the cost. ■ It was reported regarding the notice of motion tallied by- Mr McLeliand at the last meeting of the Board asking for certain statistics that the required information had been issued in circular form for presentation to members. Mr McLellnnd’s motion accordingly lapses.
