KING EDWARD RECEIVES MB BOOTH. (Received June 23, 11.7 p.m.)
LONDON, June 23. A court circular announces that bis Majesty the King received Mr William Booth, Commander-in-Chief of the Salvation Army. The newspapers state that Sir Francos Knollys, private secertary to his Majesty, at tho King’s command, intimated to General Booth that his Majesty would be pleased to receive him. General Booth was miiyh impressed with tho King's kindness, and deeply grateful for the opportunity of submitting to him information regarding tho work of the Army. Tho Kiug listened to tho General with evident pleasure, and displayed special interest in tho General’s account cf what his followers were doing to uplift the condition of the poor. At tho close of the interview, his Majesty cordially wished the Army continued prosperity and success in the work it was endeavouring to carry out. The newspapers add that the Sovereign and other royalties have recently taken sympathetic interest in the operations of the Salvation Army,
