Glorious weather prevailed for the Eketakuna Hack Racing Club’s meeting yesterday. There was a fair attendance. The bookmakers did good business. FOXTON RACES. SECOND DAY. Speoiaii to the “Times.” PALMERSTON, January 23. Tho sky was cloudy and overcast for the second day of the Foxton meeting, but no rain fell, and it was intensely hot. Tho attendance was again good. The sum of £5359 was put through the totalisator against £3398 on the second day last year, the total for the two days being £12,805, compared with £8391 "last year. At the first bend Convoy began to improve his position, while Elusion fell away. Plaidie was still in tho ruck, and did not seem to bo interesting herself until tho back of Iho course had hcen traversed. Tlion she camo up with Mussel end CcnvoT. who were still in the lead. Halfway clown the straight Convoy passed Mussel and Plaidio passed Convoy. and a groat race ensued, the placed horses passing the judge with only a Tw>ck separating them, the rest of the field on their heels.- Time. 2min 0 3-5 sec.
