Wednesday, 6.5 p.m. , The Wanganui Chamber of Commerce will met on Friday afternoon to consider, the Federal tariff. , Mrs Ballance arrived, in Wanganui yes terday, and purposes remaining for a week or two. ■ In the District Court in Chambers this afternoon, before Mr-Distrlct Judge Kettle, on the motion of Mr Gordon, letters of administration were granted to Thomas Henry Drummond in re Mary Jane Chubb Drummond, deceased. Representative settlers of the district assembled at the -Westmere Schoolroom to make a presentation to Hr A. Laird in appreciation of his public suiritec( and successful efforts towards the establishment of a creamery, post office and other advantages! The presentation, which was made by Mr W. Ritchie, took the form of - a handsome barometer and travelling rug.
