MASTERTON.
(br Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) Friday, ?.2d p.m. At a special meeting of the Masterton County Council to-day the Counties Bill wa.s discussed, and the delegates to the County Councils’ 'Conference were given instructions. Mr and Mrs M. C. O’Connell, who hav e left the. Club Hotel, wore last night entertained, and presented with suitable tokens of the esteem in tvhich they are held by the community. There was a large attendance of town and country settlers. Mr A. Scrimgwnir was given a heartv welcome to the town. The Masterton carriers object to the proposed wheel tyre bj“,aws of the Mas terton County Council, unless they are made general throughout the county. Arbor Dav wa s celebrated hero to-day by the planting of a few trees at the public school. The estimates of the Masterton County Council show the proposed expenditure on roads for the coming year to be £ooo4.
