The dredges lor the Kookiands and Greenstone Junction claims on the West Const have been oh the ground for some days, and are working iu first-class style. These dredges were supplied by Messrs S. Luke and Co. This firm have also completed a dredge for the Lioness claim, , on the Clutha, and have two others ready for Otago to be .shipped when the pontoons arc built—one for the Golden Milo and the other for the British Lion. A dredge for the Kohi. noor.claim, in the southernmost part of ' the West Coast, is now being built by Luke and Go. Parts of it have already been shipped. This will be the heaviest dredge built in the colony, and will ■dredge to a depth of 30ft. Daring the past twelve months, Messrs Luke and Co. have built six dredges for Otago and the West Coast.
