OTAKI ATHLETIC CLUB
The annual gathering of the Otaki Athletic Club took place on Wednesday. The weather was line, and there was a large attendanneo. The Otaki Maori Brass Band was on the ground, and placed selections during the afternoon. T', Stubbs, of Palmerston North, won two distances of the Otaki Handicap. P. Mullins, cf Stratford, won the half mile and mile. W. Hughes (To Horo). W. D. Bennett (Taita), ami E, W. Evans (Wellington) also ran consistently. The officials who conducted tlio_ meeting were:—Timekeepers, Messrs' Horton Briaht and A. Ferguson; judges, Messrs W. H. Simcox, F. Bennett, E. Unwin, and J. Cootes, senior; protest committee, Messrs R. Lee, Horton Bright, Herbert Freqman, Byron Brown, and E. W. E. Hombersley; starter, Mr Byron Brown; handieap•por, Mr M, H. Ay.re; general committee, Messrs R. Lee. W. Lee, (1. Mcßeath, G. Cootes. E. Unwin, A. Landa.ll, G. Murray, A. Batten, W. Wcl)her, H. .Swainsdn, L. St. George. Mitchell, Hombersley and H. Do Verc. Mr A. Chorloy (non secretary) had all details iu connection with the affair carried out .satisfactorily.
