SUSPENSION OF OFFENDERS. AN AMENDMENT REJECTED. LONDON, March 8. During Tuesday night’s scene in the House of Commons, Mr J. Jordan, member for • Fermanagh South, was named and expelled by mistake. The Right Hon J. Cowther, Chairman of Committees, expressed regret, and the suspension was rescinded. Mi - Balfour’s amendment to the Standing Orders providing that members whose conduct was such as to involve forcible removal be suspended 'for the remainder of the session, was carried by 254 votes to 51. The debate lasted till towards 6 o’clock in the morning. In Ms resolution Air Balfour accepted a modification providing that each mom. her named should b© summoned separately to obey the Speaker. An amendment proposed by Lord Hugh Cecil, ALP. for Greenwich (fifth sou of the Marquis of Salisbury), to add imprisonment until further orders in future cases, was resisted even by the Government. Lord H. Cecil offered to withdraw the amendment, but the Nationalists claimed a division, and it was negatived by 426 to none, amid laughter and cheers. A further amendment to shorten the period of suspension was rejected.
