INDIAN SUGAR QUESTION.
COUNTERVAILING, DUTIES IMPOSED.
LONDON, Thursday.
Lord George Hamilton, Secretary of State for India, has made an announcement in the House of Commons as to the amount of the duties to be imposed on sugars imported into India from countries which pay bounties on the manufacture of tho article.
The rates of duty will, he says, be equal to five-thirteenths of the amounts paid as bounties by the respective exporting countries.
