The Basin Reserve should be a scene of much animation to-day during the progress of the Fire Brigade sports. All the arrangements are complete for both competitors and spectators. The grass has been mown and the ground rolled. The course is to be the same as that used for the Natives’ Association sports. A large number of bltxejackets from the warships in port have entered for the tug-of-wir and various other events. The Mayor and Councillors and the members of the Harbour Board have intimated their intention of being present. At 11 a.m. sharp the first event is timed to start; and the tug-of-war ia fixed for 250 p.m. As the Garrison Band is not able to be present, the City Band will attend and perform a selection of popular music. The programme of the sports, excellently arranged and well got up, was printed at the NkW ZEiitA.ND TiatES office.
