BEFORE THEIR CONSTITUENTS.
By Telegraph, —Press Jicociation. TiMiBU, May 18. Mr F. B. Flatman, member for Geraldine, addressed his constituents at Temuka last night. His speech was mainly a defence of the Government, and he strongly approved of the old age pensions scheme. Ddnedin, May 18. Mr W. C. F. Carnoross, member for Taieri, speaking at Abbotsford, eulogised the Government’s administration, especially in regard to the railways. Ho advocated the reform of the Upper House by making members independent of the Ministry. He launched an old age scheme, the main features being a contribution of one shilling per week, commencing nt 40 years, so that by the time 53 was reached a person would have paid into the funds .£52. Persons resident in the colony for 25 years should at 60 years receive a weekly pension of JOj,
