OBITUARY.

MRS MILLS. Another of Wellington's old identities, Mrs Priscilla Mills, died at 1 o’clock on Wednesday morning, aged 78 years. The deceased lady was born at. Brentford, Surrey, England, and came out to New Zealand in the ship Pridsy Dawson, 43 years ago, to keep house for her brother, the late Mr G. H. Yennell, who was at that time carrying on the business of an auctioneer in Wellington. In 1859 she married Mr Charles Mills, contractor, of Johnsonville, whose second wife she was, and who was the father of Mr Thomas Mills, Mr E. W. Mills, and Mrs G. H. Vennell. Her husband died three years later, leaving no issue of the marriage, and since then Mrs Mills lived in Wellington, making four visits in the meanwhile to the Old Country, where a sister of hers is still living. For the last four years the infirmities of age prevented her making any more journeys, and she had been residing with Mrs G. H. Vennell in Abel Smith street, and for the past two years had been practically confined to the house. Dr France attended her, and everything possible was done to prolong her life, but she passed peacefully away on Wednesday morning. The deceased lady was of a most lovable disposition, and her charity was exercised in a. quiet, unobtrusive manner which greatly endeared her to the recipients of her bounty. Her death will be deplored by all who knew her. The remains of the deceased will be interred in the Bolton street Cemetery, and the funeral will leave Mrs Vennell’s residence in Abel Smith street at 9 o’clock this morning.
