NEW ZEALAND MAIL.

The fact that the whole of last week’s issue of the above weekly was sold out on the day of publication is a convincing proof of the increasing estimation it is held in by the public. This week’s issue is again a very strong number. The Ladies’ Pages contain a remarkably full description of the dresses worn at the opening of Parliament, and a small host of society functions aro chronicled by " Violet” and in their usual pleasant style. The utility of the Mail as a settlor’s paper is steadily being enhanced, the space devoted to agricultural and pastoral subjects having been considerably increased, whilst the editor is particularly careful that the articles shall bo of a practical rather than of a theoretical nature. Five full pages are devoted to farming matters this week, and the latest "Leaflet,” on “ Potato Diseases and How to Cure Thom,” is reprinted in full. Tho sportsman, athlete and fancier aro well catered for, the theatrical and literary notes are bright and topical, whilst tho general reader is provided with a groat variety of interesting matter. Those who have not seen tho Mail of late would do well to buy a copy and, after reading it, post it. to a friend hi the country. For country and family reading the Mail is now one of the best weekly papers published in tho Australasian colonies. We might add that the Parliamentary debates are reported in full, the Mail thus providing a valuable political record.
