The discussion on the alleged employment of coolie labour on board the Union Company’s boats was continued, and it was resolved to ask the secretary of the Federated Seamen’s Union for further particulars. The question of nominating a candidate for the representation of labour as a member of the Court of Arbitration under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act was considered. It was decided to submit the name of Mr Poynton, solicitor, Wellington, to the various Trades Councils of the Colony.

The Secretary informed the meeting that at a re-union at Adelaida at which several labour leaders and members of Parliament were present, the Hon W. P. Beeves was’ requested to convey fraternal greetings to the labour organisations of New Zealand.

It was resolved to ask tho Hon Mr Reeves to. address a public meeting on Friday next, 25th instant, on labour legislation, especially with, reference to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, It was decided, should Mr, Reeves accede to the request, to hold the meeting in the Skating Rink, and the following were appointed a committee to make the necessary arrangements: Messrs Davidson, Lamb, Collms, McGirr, "Miles, Osborne, Smith, Shelton and tho executive officers.
