NEW ZEALAND MAIL.
The Farmer pages in this week’s issue of the New Zealand Mail; which is published this mbrning, includes the following articles: The Cheap Money Scheme, Prevention of Smut in' Wheat, The Low Prices of Produce, Butter Pat in Milk, Farming Notes from the Wairarapa, Hints on Chryranthemum Culture,! and others. In the Ladies’pages “AuntßUen" gives some very useful hints re the preserving of peaches, and there is the usual illustrated fashion letter, Chit Chat, and Social Gossip columns. - Mrs Lovett Cameron's capital serial story “A Lost Wife ” is continued, and there are also a number of general articles Of an interesting character. Specimens of the latest English poetry (Sir Edwin Arnold and Mr John Davidson) appear under the title of “At the Sign of the Lyre,” and book notices under the heading of “ Paper-knife and Pen.” A The Cricket columns are full of interesting details concerning the recent test matches in Australia, and there is also a most valuable table of averages for these matches, which has been specially compiled for the Mail. " Gipsy King” has a lengthy budget of ■ sporting gossip, and “Scrutator" comments upon a variety of topics in his usual satirical vein. A new feature in the Mail is the “Laughter Box,” in which will boPound well-selected stories and anecdotes of , a humorous character. Kennel and, Poultry Notes, The Labour World, Aquatics, The Bing,' , and other, features assist in making up a very good number. A better weekly paper for posting to friends in the country or in the other colonies could not well be found. -
