THE FACTORIES ACT.

, A notice in.the Gazette gives the names of 41 Inspectors of Factories. Instead of being assigned separate districts as heretofore, they are appointed for the North add Middle Islands respectively, 21 of them being located in the North Island, 17 in'the Middle Island, and three of them (Mr Jas. Mackay, Mr James Shanaghan and Mrs Grace Neill) having jurisdiction in every part of the Colony. The abolition of special districts is made for a twofold purpose. Thirty-five of the inspectors are members of tho police force, afid when they are shifted from one station to another it will no longer be necessary to .gazette their appointment to a special district. Moreover, there will no. longer .be confusion and misunderstanding as to of districts.
