ARRIVAL OF THE STEAMER RICHMOND AT AUCKLAND.
(UNITED press association.) Auckland, August 19. The Island mail steamer Richmond arrived this afternoon. Her detention was due to a heavy storm, which caused her to take shelter under Sunday Island (Kermadeos) on the 11th. The s.s. Stella arrived at Sunday Island on the 15th. After unsuccessfully attempting to laud Messrs Curtis and Macaulay, on account of the gale and high sea, the s.s. Richmond left, having been detained a week. The annexation party are engaged-in the survey of Sunday Island, on which the British flag will be hoisted. After visiting the other two islands, the Stella expects to reach Auckland by the 28th August. i
