(KBtTTBB’S TELEOKAMS.) Melbouhne, August 19. In the Legislative Assembly last night a motion by Mr T. Bent declaring the tariff proposals of the Government unsatisfactory was rejected by 44 to 18. Adelaide, August 19. _ The Colonial Treasurer delivered his financial Statement in the House of Assembly last evening. The actual deficit, he stated, was L 1,108,000. He estimated the expenditure for the current year at L 2,197,873, and the revenue at L 2,226,228. The country, he said, demanded Protection, and it must be given a trial. He proposed to practically adopt the Victorian tariff.
