MR MACARTHUR’S ADDRESS.
(united press association.) Feilding, February 9. _ Mr Macarthnr, M- fl. 11., addressed his constituents at Foildiug last night, the Mayor being in the chair. There was a good attendance, and the speaker was well received, and mads a lengthy speech, covering the questions of the Civil Service Reform Bill, Native affairs and Native Land BUI, retrenchment, Protection and Free Trade, the Railway Department, the Management of Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, and the Representation BUI. The speech was generally condemnatory of the present Government, the speaker being severe on Sir Robert Stout’s false economy and Sir Julius Vogel’s bungled finance. A vote of thanks and confidence in the speaker was unanimously carried.
