BISHOP HARPER ON THE WEST COAST.
HIS OPINION ON THE EDUCATION SYSTEM. (united press association.) Hokitika, February 9. Bishop Harper, Anglican Primate of New Zealand, is on an official visit to this portion of his diocese. He confirmed 127 candidates here, and proceeds to Greymoutb, in respouse to a warm invitation. A public welcome will be given to him there. He afterward goes to Nelson to consecrate the Cathedral. Speaking at Ross to a public assemblage, the Bishop is reported by a local paper to have said concerning the education system —“At present they were enjoying all the blessings of a great State education, and although religious instruction was shut oat from the grand system, and however much that might be regretted, still perhaps the proper place for that' was in the churches, theSuuuay Schools, and the homes,”
