LIVELY PROCEEDINGS AT A COUNCIL MEETING.

A heated discussion, interspersed with violent altercations, took place at the meeting of the Thames Borough Council tins evening on the mbject of representation of the small ward of Parawai, Messrs Macandrew, Chappel, and Hume, members of the ward, pro* sented themselves at tho council meeting, and claimed the right to sit until the resolution was actually passed merging the ward into another, and al o to vote upon such resolution, Tho Mayor ruled that they were no longer councillors, whetenpon Mr Macandrew excitedly demanded that he should be allowed to vote, and repeatedly threatened to obstruct the business until the point was conceded. He deGed the Mayor (Mr W. F. Fraser, M.H.U.) to send for a constable to ej-jet him from tho chambor, and a messenger sent for one failed to return. He taunted the Mayor with being afraid to carry out his threat. After prolonged debate the Mayor m >ved a resolution incorporating P.irawai with an adjacent ward, which was carried by a majority of acknowledged councillois. Ths obstructing persons, accompanied by Messrs Kilgour and Menoio, then withdrew, leaving a bare quorum to proceed with the business.
