NORSEWOOD.

The delegates sent to Wellington to interview the Minister for Lands and the Premier concerning the -acquiring of the Rakautatahi and other blocks of land in this neighbourhood, presented their report at a meeting of settlers on Monday evening. The meeting was well attended, and the report proved very favourable. As a result of the trip the Land Purchase Officer is expected to visit Norsewood shortly to view the blocks, and report on the suitability of the land for closer settlement.
Norsewood will be en fete on Thursday next, when the Dairy Co-operative Co. will officially open the new factory. A big day is anticipated. The official opening is set down for 7 30 p.m. Tea will be held in the Hall at 6 p.m., after which a social and dance will be heldMr W. H. Johnston, 8.A., who has resigned his position as/ head-master of the Makatuku school, was farewelled by the residents of that place on Thursday evening. Mr Robinson occupied the chair, and in a fevr well-chosen remarks ex-pres-red the general regret felt at Mr John-
sfcon's departure, and, on behalf of the householders, presented Mr Johnston with a handsome travelling bag, and Mra Johnston with a silver-mounted purse. Mr Johnston leaves for the south on Monday. The local Dramatic Club bas been requested by the Whetukura Institute to stage the farce, ‘‘The Little Sentinel,” in aid e# that body. The performance, supplemented by songs, etc., will be held in the Whetukura Hall on Sept. 15th.
