BUNNYTHORPE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Weather conditions are splendid, certainly on Wednesday, we had a heavy storm of rain and hail, bnt it did an immense amount of good. The country around is beginning to look lovely, the verdant appearance of the pastures promising good returns to the dairy farmere. On Wednesday evening we experienced a slight shock of earthquake. I have heard of no accidents in connection with it.

Last Sunday evening the 20th instant, we were honoured by a visit from the Bishop of Wellington. The Rev Mr Klininder read the service, the Bishop reading the lessons and preaching an eloquent sermon. The church was crowded, and the services were made especially attractive by the beautiful playing of Miss Richardson on the organ. On-Monday evening the Rev F. W. Isitt held a meeting in our public hall, and gave a very interesting speech to a rather large audience; but from what I can gather I don’t think his lecture has influenced many here, as those who were in favour of license did not attend, and those who did attend were already in favour of no-license.

I regret to say there is a considerable number of children very ill in. the district.
