A Board of Chemists is to be appointed by the j'ri ish Government to establish and maintain a standard of purity for articles of food, homo raised and imported, and that persons guilty of adulteration on a second conviction shall be sent to prison as in ancient days. Certain parts of the report are directed against American food stuffs, including lard. The Vinegar Ilill bridge is now practically completed, and Mr McKay, the county engineer, has made his final inspection. Tho bridge is 407 ft in length, and is said to be the most substantial work spanning any river in the interior of the Colony.
