EDUCATIONAL.
Mr J. Muir lias been elected chairman of the Auckland Education Board (the position concerning which a scene occur red at a recent mooting of the Board). Mr Udy, the late chairman, and Mr Luke did not vote, and Mi Cooper arrived from Wellington two hours too late to exercise his vote. Secondary education is being agitated for in Palmerston North, and at a meeting on Wednesday night, a resolution was passed m favour of the establishment of a college, separate from tlm primary schools. Mr Pirani promised to asked for an endowment, but said lie had no great hopes of getting one. A movement is on foot in Wellington to form a National Schools Protection Association, with tlm object of preventing any interference with tho present educational system, more especially in the direction of the introduction of Bible reading in schools.
