WELLINGTON EXHIBITION.
A meeting of tho Executive Committee of the Wellington Industrial Exhibition was held last week in tho Chamber of Commerce. Mr S. Brown (president) occupied the chair, and Messrs J. Smith, A. E .Suckling-Baron, W. Gill, W. H. Millward, W. 11. Ballinger, TV. Booth, A. do B. Brandon and J. B. Harcourt were also present. The President reported that the Industrial Association had decided that tho surplus, if any, should be devoted to the promotion of industrial and manufacturing'' pursuits aud technical education. The Secretary reported that, in answer to his letter asking the Brass Band Association if they would consider tho question of holding the band contests during tho Exhibition, tho secretary had written that if so the Executive Committee would have to take all responsibility and provide tho same prizes as given at previous contests. Tho cost of holding the contest would be about ,£3OO, and about -£l5O would be received from entrance fees. Tho chairman said that evidently the tenor of tho secretary’s letter had been misunderstood. Tho letter from the Band Association was referred to tho Musical and Entertainment Committee. Messrs Joseph Nathan and Co. asked permission to givo away or sell tea at the Exhibition. It was decided that a committee be appointed to bring up a report dealing with matters of the kind. It was decided that no chargo should bo made for space occupied by homo industries. Tho report of the Printing and Advertising Committee, recommending that tenders should ho called for tho printing, advertising in, and selling of tho catalogue of the Exhibition, the sale price not to bo more than sixpence, was adopted. It was also decided that a bond of .£.30 would bo required to accompany tho tenders.
