ATHLETICS.
A 50 yards race between t. James and J. Adams for £5 a .side took place on the Basin Reserve on Saturday afternoon, the former winning by about four yards. Mr J. Flanagan officiated as starter and Mr F. J. McGovern as judge.
Good entries have been received for (.lie Wellington Club’s football sports to be hold on the I (fill May. There will lie close on 40 contestants for the Levin shield, while 20 odd entries havo boon received for the Handicap Half-mile Race to bo run in football costume".
