j jin G ibbons’ monthly journal, just received, they announce their acquisition for a sum approaching £BOOO of tho collection of Mr W. 11. Hughes, barrister of the inner-'Temple. Jle commenced collecting in 1851), and continue] up to 1.874. He kept »» account of his purchases (most of the stamps being obtained from influential connections), which amounted to only .£()!). 'The collection is contained in one blank volume, and numbers only .3000, hut they are stamps — real old Stamps (with a capital S). It includes the only known unused sp ciu.cn of the Cape of Good Hope—wood block— error 4d red (this is priceless), and a first issue t)d blue, used, of Natal.
