A few notes on the stamps of South Africa will shortly appear in this column, and the above named stamps might well form a text, for a speculation upon tile probable future values of 8011111 Africans, British and foreign.

The death of the E trl of Kingston, the late president of tho London Philatelic Society, is felt as a great loss by the members and collectors generally. He was elected to the office mi the 20th May, 1802, in succession to Mr F. A. Philbrick, Q.C , and has thus been for nearly four years the acting head of tho London Society, whoso headquarters arc at Effingham House, Arundel Street, Strand. The Philatelist says : —“ lie had not only a great love and affection for the London Society, but was possessed of Philatelic ability of an order that in every way justified his election.” Ho rejoiced in tho possession of a superb collection of the stamps of Great Britain, in addition to a vast number of other stamps of our colonies and other countries, lie died at Cairo in tho 48th year of his age. He was a Major and Hon. Lieut. Colonel of tho sth Battalion Connaught Rangers, a J. P. of the counties of Roscommon and Leitrim, Lord Lieutenant of his county, aud a Representative Peer since 1887.
