ENGLAND AND THE COLONIES.
Ilis Excellency the Governor has received the following from Mr Chamberlain, Secretary of State for the Colonies: — Downing street, Ist February, 1390. —My Lord, —1 have the honour to acknowledge tho receipt of your telegram of tho 21th ultimo, informing me that your Prime Minister has transmitted to you by telegraph the terms of a resolution passed by a mooting ot New Zealand colonists at Auckland, expressing their appreciation of the conduct of Her Majesty’s Government with regard to Venezuela and the Transvaal, ami declaring their loyalty to the Queen and the pride which they fool in belonging to tho British Empiro. 011 behalf of Her Majesty’s Government I desire you to convey to Mr Seduon and to the people of New Zealand our most cordial thanks for their message, which will further strengthen the deep conviction of Her Majesty and tho people of tho United Kingdom that in the doI'enco of the integrity of tho Empire and in the maintenance) of British and colonial interests they can confidently rely on the loyal cooperation of Her Majesty’s subjects throughout the world.—l have, Ac., J.
