BAD FOR THE BULLOCK.

The excursion train coming fr om the Danovirko sports to-day ran into a bullock a quarter of a mile soullq of Matamau. The engine was derailed, and turned right over a number of empty trucks, which wero reduced to splinters.

As far as can be learned, nobody was injured, though the driver and fireman must have had a narrow escape.

The train which left Napier at 1.35 wont onto the scene of the accident and picked up the passengers for Napier, but it is ox-

pectod it will not reach hero till about 1.30 a.in.

A gang of men was sent on from Make hiku to remove tho debris.

It is {believed the bullock was fast in the cattle stop. Great damage has been done to the rolling stock.
