CRICKET.
The Waiwetu Club played their last match of the season against the United Tradesmen, at Waiwetu, on Thursday, the game resulting in a victory for the latter by 17 runs. The visitors were entertained at lunch. Three hearty cheers were given for Mrs, Miss and Mr Brown, and also the Waiwetu eleven for their kindness on and off the field. The match which the Wellington third and Eilbirnie second elevens commenced for the Third-class Championship a week ago was continued on Saturday. The former team completed their first innings for 32, Cohen with 11 alone reaching double figures. The Kilbirnie team's second venture closed for 38, Cowlam scoring 14. Bothune, who took seven wickets for 12 runs, was in rare form with the ball. The Wellington team required 89 to win, and at 5 p.m., when stumps were drawn, had lost four wickets for 32, Cohen scoring 10. THIRD-CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP.
