Mr Munro, Premier, has decided that 2nd March will be the most suitable day for the assembling of the Federal Convention at Sydney. The Cabinet has decided fo recommend the other colonies to accept the terms of the Eastern Extension Company for a reduction of cable rates, provided the guarantee is given for a year, irrespective of New Zealand and Queensland, which are unwilling to join. When Parliament meets, the Government will introduce an Irrigation Loan Bill of L 350,000 to meet the obligations of the late Government. Brisbane, November 26.

The debate on Sir S. Griffith’s resolutions dividing the colony into three provinces was adjourned for a fortnight, practically shelving the proposals. Sir Samuel complained of the attitude of the northern and central members, and considers it hardly worth while to continue the debate.

Arrived—-Edith May, from Dunedin, 49 days out. She experienced a succession of gales. Sailed —R.M.S. Mariposa, for San Francisco, via Auckland. Hobart, November 26.

Arrived —R.M.S. Ruapehu, from London, via the Cape, at 8 o’clock this evening. She sails again at 11 o’clock to-mor-row morning for Port Chalmeis. Tho Ruapehu brings 39 passengers for Australian ports and 123 for New Zealand.
