REEFTON MINING.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Reefton, January 11. I regret to say that business is so very dull that no meeting of the Mining Exchange has been held this week. This is to be attributed in a great degree to the holidays. The claims can only be said to have just recommenced work, so that no bona fide quotations can be given. Samples of stoDe from the Painkiller have been brought into town. They are certainly of a high-class quality, and as it is on the old Kay line of reef it will in oil probability shortly be sought .after. The mine manager of the Keep-it-Dark states that crushing has been suspended in consequence of the breaking of the head race. As soon as this is thoroughly secured work will be again resumed. No change to report as to the quality of the stone.
