POSTAL MATTERS.

Melbourne, December 15
In the Legislative Assembly this afternoon. Mr Derham, ,the PostmasterGeneral, made a statement with reference to the Postal Conference recently held in this city. He announced that it had been decided to make an offer to the Orient and Peninsular and Oriental Companies for & weekly service to Adelaide of 32 If an unsatisfactory reply were received from these Companies, the service would be re-advertised, but in no case would the contract be g’ven to a foreign Company. Mr Derham asked the House not to demand further details at the present time. He stated that intercolonial penny post cards wouid be adopted.
