COUNTY COUNCILS AND CHARITABLE AID.
(united press association.) Dunedin, December 7.
The County Councils are complaining of the heavy tax which the demands of the charitable aid contributions impose on them. At a meeting of the Bruce County Council the members complained bitterly of it, and it was resolved that the Chairman communicate with the various County Councils with reference to each body providing for its own poor, the charge for hospitals being paid according to the number of patients sent.
