John Swift, laborer, got injured on Tuesday by falling over an embankment at Northcote. He died at the Hospital to-day. Invercargill, October 29.

George Gordon, manager of the Bayswater Estate, near Ofcautau, was found drowned in Jacob’s River to-day. Nelson, October 29.

A fatal accident occurred last night to William Rowell, an old resident, who was lying across the tramway in a state of intoxication, and was run over by the ’bus and killed instantaneously. Palmerston North, November 1.

A serious accident happened to a child named Doreen, the daughter of a local resident, on Saturday. The child was playing by the fire in the absence of its parents, when its dress was caught by the flames, which spread rapidly, and were only extinguished by some passers-by when she had been fearfully burned about the legs and back. It is thought she will die of the effects. The child is at present in an unconscious state.
