REPRESENTATIVE PLAY
BRIGADE BEATS AIR FORCE Fast and spectacular play marked the representative Soccer fixture at Blandford Park on Saturday afternoon between Ist Brigade and Air Force, in which the former swung the ball about from wing to wing. Under the slippery conditions this was more advantageous than the close passing of Air Force. Although Ist Brigade had the final majority of three goals, a much closer decision would have reflected the play. The early match, which was a championship fixture, provided a surprise when Metro-College was fully worth its two-goal victory over Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys A, which shares the top of the table with North Shore, with 18 points. Comrades and Metro-College now have 10 points, which gives the championship added interest. In the main game there was little to choose between the teams in the midfield exchanges of the first spell, but Ist Brigade led at half-time by *2 goals to O. Air Force combined better in the second spell, and with good moves by Phillips and Patterson, the forward line penetrated the The scores and scorers were:—lst Brigade, 5 (L Welch. 2.
