DEATH OF CHILD
FOUND INJURED IN PADDOCK (0.C.) WHANG AREI, Sunday A child, Victoria Tlielma Crump, aged - years 11 months, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Crump, of Paroti, died while being hurried to the Whangarei District Hospital yesterday. The child had been found by Mrs. Crump in a state of distress in a paddock on their farm. When giving evidence at an inquest which was opened before the coroner, Mr. G. 11. Morrish, to-day. Mr. Crump said the child had been in the habit of playing with animals in a paddock near the house. In the paddock there were 30 head of cattle and two horses, one of which, an unshod mare, was liable to Kick. The medical superintendent of the Whangarei Hospital, Dr. J. W. Hall, said the child had bruises on the chest and right elbow. He was unable to give the cause of death. The coroner ordered a post-mortem examination and adjourned the inquest.
