OVER 19.000,000 GALLONS New Zealand produced 19.120,241 gallons of ale and stout during the year 1010-41, according to the latest Abstract of Statistics. This is an increase of 7 per cent on the previous year, which was a record. The increase in ale was actually 8 per cent, 1.318,961 gallons having been produced. The quantity of stout manufactured declined by 8935 gallons to 1.122,929 gallons. Beer duty in 1940-41 amounted to £1,855,328.
