OBITUARY

MR. A. J. KIDD fO.C.) PUKKKOHE, Wednesday The death occurred at Auckland yesterday of Mr. Alfred John Kidd, of Yictoria Street, Pukekoho, oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kidd, pioneer settlers of the Waiultu district. Mr. Kidd was one of those who took a prominent part in transforming the large swamp area at Aka Aka into the highly productive plain which it has now become. He had large farming interests at Aka Aka. In recent years he had been living in retirement at Pukekoho. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. MRS. A. MELDRUM The death has occurred in Auckland of Mrs. Katbriue Meldrum. wife of Mr. A. Meldruin, of Silverdale. Mrs. Meldrum. who was formerly Miss Thorburn, was burn at Wade iJoadu, Silverdale, years ago. As a young woman she was prominent in social work in the area and was district nurse for many years. She is survived by her husband. two sons and seven daughters. MR. S. W. TAYLOR (0.c.) DARGAVILLE, Wednesday The death occurred on his birthday vesterdav of Mr. Samuel William Paylor. aged 81. lie had been a well-known resident of the district for 50 years. PRESENTATION On behalf of the staffs ol the four police stations oil the North Shore. Senior-Sergeant C. (J. Dunford, of Devonport, ' presented Constable A. .Moloney, of Takapuna, with a barometer at a gathe-ing at the Takapuna police station last night. Constable Moloney is retiring from the force after .'{l years' service, 17 ot which have been spent at Takapuna.
