PATRIOTIC SHOOT

METROPOLITAN GUN CLUB The Metropolitan Gun Club held its final shoot fur a skeet gun donated by Mr. S. If. Woodroffe for competition in aid of patriotic funds on Saturday. A previous series of shoots for this gun realised nearly £.lB, the winner, Mr. R. B. Wilson, generously handing it back to the club for further competition. Saturday's event, which was very largely attended by Metropolitan members and friends and by shooters from the Auckland, Brigham's Creek and Pukekohe Gun Clubs, realised over £SO. A gusty cross-wind made shooting difficult. The match conditions were two rounds of skeet (50 targets) on handicap. There were 29 competitors. The winner of the gun was Mr. R. G. White, of the Metropolitan Club, who shot off scratch and scored 11. Other good performances were:—A. E. Robinson (scr), 13; C. A. Whitney (0), 13; J. Donnelly (scr), 42; A. Woodroffe (5), 42; E. J. Schofield (scr), 11; A, L. Byrne (scr), 39; R. 11. Maekay (1), 3!). During the afternoon four other prizes donated by members of the Metropolitan Club were offered. In the first match (one round of skeet) the trophies were taken by J. Donnelly (scr) and W. H. Wilson (7). equal, with In the second match A. Woodroffe was the winner with a score of 24 from a handicap of 5, the veteran shooter, C. A. Whitney, scoring 23 from a handicap of <i. to take the second trophy in this event. As its own contribution to the patriotic funds the Metropolitan Gun Club paid all the cost of conducting the shoots. A total contribution of over £7O will be made to patriotic funds as a result of the skeet gun competition.
