OPENING ON SATURDAY

POSITION OF SERVICE TEAMS DRAW FOR FIRST TWO DAYS Considering the number of players who have joined the Forces the entries received in the various grades of the Auckland Cricket Association's competitions augured well for a successful season, stated the chairman, Mr. W. R. tee, at last- night's meeting of the management committee. The season will open on Saturday. The possibility of Service teams not fulfilling their engagements was discussed, and it was agreed that, in the event of duty preventing Service teams from playing, any such match shall he declared a tie, each team receiving four points. The Thames Association advised that it was considering affiliating with the Waikato Association. It was decided to advise Thames that it cannot affiliate with an outside association. . Ihe junior advisory committee stated that it had decided to elevate Technical Old Boys, Stanley Bay and West End from second grade to senior B. while Training College had requested that, its senior B side should be entered ,in the second grade. This was agreed on, and it was decided to accept (lie entry of 11 teams in the senior B grade and divide it into two sections.

I lie junior committee also advised that if intended commencing the second grade competition next Saturday, hut not to play on Labour Day. It was resolved to close all other junior entries on Labour Day at 5 p.m. No late entries will be received, as the draw and allocation of grounds has to be made en luesday morning.
