VOLUMINOUS PETITION

OVER FOOT OF DOCUMENTS (S.R.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday A petition signed by 33,293 persons asking that the licensing laws should be strictly enforced was presented to the House of Representatives to-day by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. S. G. Holland. The documents attached to the petition measured about 15 inches in thickness. The prayer of the petition, which was referred to the M to Z Public Petitions Committee, was on similar lines to that presented earlier in the session by a number of Greymouth residents.
