93RD BIRTHDAY
MISS SARAH CUMMINS New Zealand pioneer is an apt decription of Miss Sarah Cummins, of Rendall Place, Auckland, who yesterday celebrated her 93rd birthday, for, with the exception of a few years in Australia, Miss Cummins has always lived in the North Island of New Zealand. Her parents we*e married at Paihia, Bay of Islands, and she was the fourth child of the marriage. On the death of her father, Miss Cummins went into business as a dressmaker and she has lived in Auckland for the past 43 years. Miss Cummins reads books and newspapers regularly, and is remarkably well versed in current events and opinions. She is watching the progress of the present war—the seventh in her memory—with keen interest.
