ALLEGED BREACHES REPLY TO MR. HOLLAND MR. NASH DEFENDS MINISTERS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday A reply to the telegram sent by th«j Leader of the Opposition, Mr. S. G. Holland, to the Hon. W. Nash concerning alleged political propaganda in two recent Ministerial statements was made by Mr, Nash to-day. His telegram to Mr. Holland said the agreement made between the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Eraser, and Mr. Holland to minimise public platform propaganda for tho war period was in complete accord with the policy of the Government, and Mr. Nash expresses the hope that the agreement will be honoured. "The statements made by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, and tho Minister of Health, the Hon. A. IT. Nordmeycr, do not in any way breach that agreement," says Mr. Nash. "Mr. Sullivan's statement relative tq the Industrial Efficiency Act and the import selection policy was in reply to charges made by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce — charges which the Government, and in particular the Minister, in their responsibility to the people of the Dominion, must reply to. 1 have read carefully tho published reports of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. If the views of the chamber aro correctly reported, tho Minister's reply was not only justified, but essential.

"Mr. Nordmeycr simply stated that the British Medical Association was not co-operating, although many of its members were desirous of operating the medical benefits of the Social Security Act," Mr. Nash continues. "I personally hope an agreement will be reached at an early date with the British Medical Association. 1 hope also that it will be possible for party politics as such to be avoided, but. you will agree it would not be in the interests of the Dominion if charges against Ministers were allowed to go unchallenged, or if circumstances relating to the operation of the policy of the Government were not made known to the, public."
