TOCEETIE SCORES AGAIN CLAY POT FINISHES WELL BY ARCHER Showing marked improvement upon her running on the first day, Buncrana won the Oak Handicap practically from end to end. She was bracketed 011 the totalisator with (iolden .Journey, and the combination was second and first favourite. Buncrana was the first winner at tho meeting for tho successful Takanini trainer F. .1. Smith, who had two falls on the first day. Golden Journey fell at the start and Trafalgar Boy failed to go away at nil, taking 110 part in the race. Suspense, Range Finder and Loyal Star also lost their chances at the start by failing to begin correctly. Once into the straight Vanson challenged, but he had no chance with Cynic, who beat him by a length and a-half. Sir Echo was a length away third, and Northern Smile was fourth ahead of Auto Bingen, Flashlight and Kallula. Parrish Boy and Lucky Derby lost their chances at the start, hot It beginning badly. In spite of her lapse on the first day, Betty Boop was made an each-way favourite for the Summer Handicap, but she again let down her admirers by losing a lot of ground at the start. She had run into a handy position, commencing the last round, but the effort was too great and she finished well back. Victory went to the back-marker Toceetie. who was responsible for another pood performance, deepening the good impression she made on the first day. Princess Linnett led early from Belfast Jack, but Kinawley assumed command after half a mile, and with a round to go she was the leader from Princess Linnett, Belfast Jack, Toceetie, Mazaire and Betty Boop. Toceetie followed Princess Linnett and Kinawley into the straight, and then came on to win easing up by a length and a-half from Princess Linnett. Mazaire was a neck away third, and Proletarian . was fourth ahead of Kinawley, Belfast Jack and Musketeer. Silver Watch broke at the start. Our Peggy, won the Champion Handicap in good style, thus taking the event for the second year in succession. When the field had settled down Our Peggy was in command from Superior Rank, Hillcrest. Three Bells. Worthy Need and Bronze Queen. Our Peggy was still in charge at the home turn from Superior Rank and Three Bells, with Bold Venture moving up and the field bunching. Our Peggy held on gamely to win by a neck from Superior Rank, who just skipped slightly right on the post. Worthy Need was half a length away third and Bold Venture was fourth, followed by Bayard. Kenworthy and Bronze Queen. The well-supported Our Jewel lost his chance by breaking badly at the start. Cruiser and Kilrea also failed to go away correctly. The consistent Clay Pot finished strongly to w,n the Tramway Handicap at double figuris. Adversity was assisted by a smart beginning and nvoillng all trouble out in front. Worthy Need was responsible for another good performance, as after receiving a check early be was forced to cover a good deal of ground. Mongolian ran one of his hrst races and Bronze Queen was staying on at the fin'sh.
